WHAT A WEEK!! - September 28, 2008
STB started the week in the beautiful mountains of N.C. at the 2008 Whippoorwill Music Festival. There was music and fun for everyone. From STB to the awesome vocals of Renee Williams and Steve Martinez, the country styles of Blake Wise and of course one of our favorites Juleigh Ed and Dixie Dawn. Country Legend Mel McDaniel finished up the star studded evening with an awesome set of his hits.
From NC it was on to Studio 151 (or whatever they call themselves) on Monday to put the finishing touches on our new CD with some Flute & Sax from Jerry Eubanks of The Marshall Tucker Band. We sure do appreciate Tim Lawter and his countless hours trying to get this project finalized. Rusty Milner is mastering the songs as we speak and then to the presses.......AMEN!! Keep an eye out for the finished product in the near future. MANY THANKS TO EVERYONE INVOLVED!!!
P.S. Check the updated gallery for pics of our fun filled summer including Steve "Guitar" Harvey sitting in with us at Bear Creek Marina.
Hot fun in the summer time - August 17, 2008
Looks like we're playing alot of outdoor gigs for the remainder of summer. That's cool because we like it hot. Be sure to check out our calendar and come see us when you can. Special thanks to Wofford College, here in beautiful downtown Spartanburg, for inviting us back to play their alumni BBQ. We always enjoy ourselves at this fun event.
We're working hard to finish up the new CD at Studio 151 (or whatever they call it now). Should be released early this Fall. More details to follow ...
Independence Day Weekend - July 6, 2008
We would like to send a special thank you to every military person and their families for the sacrifices they have made to gain and keep the independence for this great nation that we live in. Hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend.
The band celebrated the 4th at the Rumbling Bald Resort in beautiful Lake Lure, North Carolina. The evening began with us playing a few sets and ended with our own Rick Cash singing the Star Spangled Banner to a crowd of about 5,000 people. After that everyone was treated to one of the most spectacular firework displays to be seen. We all had a blast and many thanks to the folks at Rumbling Bald for inviting us.
We finished up the weekend at the Bear Creek Marina in Nebo, North Carolina. Many thanks to everyone who came out.
Next it's back to the studio to finish the last 4 songs for the new CD. We'll keep you posted on our progress.

Spring is in the air - May 6, 2008
many thanks to everyone who came out to support us last week at the Spring Fling in beautiful downtown Spartanburg SC. The band cranked out mixed bag of songs, even pulled out some 'Stormy Monday'. The good folks at Palmetto Sound did a great job taking care of us and the audio so hats off to them for all of their hard work. A good time was had by all.
We had the pleasure of meeting Juleigh Ed a couple of weeks ago while playing at the Bear Creek marina in Nebo, NC. Juleigh is no stranger to the stage, she even got up and jammed on a couple of numbers with us. We look forward to gigging some with Juleigh soon so keep your eyes on our calendar page.
We're still working on our next CD with Tim Lawter at Mill Street recording..or whatever they call it now. Hope to have some new tunes on the website soon.

Spartanburg Loses Another Favorite - January 31, 2008
The Silver Travis family would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Blues Man Lindy Polk. Lindy passed away on Tuesday January 29th. He's probably best known for his work as front man for Lindy and The Night Howlers. He was devoted to his music and gave much of his time organizing benefits for those in need. He will be missed dearly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him!
01/30/2008 - January 30, 2008
We had a great time at the Saluda Mountain Jamboree on Saturday. Thank you to the Whitaker's and all the folks who came out to see us. The facility is awesome. A special thanks to our fans from Georgia who made the drive to NC. We are in the process of scheduling more dates in Saluda, so look for those on our calander in the near future, as well as other venues. We are looking forward to a great 2008 so make your plans to be a part of it!
2008 - January 22, 2008
Folks we are looking foward to a great year and we are in the process of putting our calander together. In the meantime, come out and join us on January 26th at the Saluda Mountain Jamboree. This is a great facility with lots of room to dance. We are anticipating a big crowd so come early. We also hope to have our CD finished by mid-summer. You can check out the first five tracks in the music section. Thanks to you all for continuing to support STB. We look forward to rockin with you all in 2008.
Happy New Year - December 25, 2007
We hope that everyone had a great Christmas and the new year brings you success and happiness. The band takes the holidays off and cranks it up again around the first of the year. We're working towards bigger and better things this year including plans to complete our next CD. The pens keep hitting the paper so we're going to have a hard time deciding which tunes to include. Maybe it's time for one of those double-live CD's or something. Anyway, we'll keep you posted.
Keep our old friend Buffalo Smith in your thoughts and prayers. His health has been causing him some issues as of late. He is however on the road to recovery and we wish him all of the best. Buffalo has long been a brother of ours so when you get time check him out at
www.Gritz.net .
A Great Time Was had by all - November 11, 2007
We certainly enjoyed our day at the Jam 4 George concert held in beautiful downtown Spartanburg, SC last week. It was great seeing some old friends and making some new ones and an honer to be asked to play in tribute to George McCorkle. Many thanks to Justin, Buffalo, Rick and everyone else involved. There are plenty of pics in the gallery section of our website and more on GRITZ.net so be sure and check them out when you get the chance. The band is laying low during the holiday season but we're working on some fantastic gigs for next year. Be sure and check our calendar and come see us.
If you are a fan of Southern Rock you simply must check out the Southern Rock Society

Many thanks to everyone who has listened to our new tunes from the music section of our website. The feedback has been great and we're looking forward to returning to Studio 151 or Millstreet Recordings (or whatever they call themselves) to finish our upcoming CD. These guys seem to bring out the best in us. If you haven't heard the tunes, check them out and let us know what you think.
The holidays are almost upon us so keep in mind that the 'One Monkey Don't Spoil' the Show' CD makes a great stocking stuffer. Drop us an e-mail if you want one, we'll get you fixed up in plenty of time for Santa to listen to it on his big night.
Music Section of the Website - August 31, 2007
We've updated the music section of the website to sort the songs by category. The new material that we are working on is stored in the 'New demo material' category. Check it out and let us know what you think. We also got a copy of the song that started it all for us in 1982 called "Baby It's True" written by Rick Cash and former member Steve 'guitar' Harvey. The song got a lot of air-play along the southeast and we sure had alot of fun with it. The flip-side "Web of Love" is there also. These are under the 'Archives' category. The 'Songs' category has some tunes for our One Monkey Don't Spoil the Show CD and the 'Commercials' are some commercials that we have saved. Check them out and let us know what you think.
Good news on new Tunes - August 24, 2007
If you're wondering where we've been for the last month or so, we just finished the first five songs for our Next CD. We appreciate all of the work that Tim Lawter has been doing to help us with our project. Tim has a great ear (probably both of them are good) and is an exceptionally talented individual. Many thanks to Rusty Millner also who is doing the CD master for us. The guys at Studio 151 ( or whatever they call themselves) are great to work with. We recommend them for sure. Drop us a line and we'll send you a demo of the new tunes as soon as the mastering is complete. No charge for the CD but a $5 love offering to cover expenses would be nice :) We'll be playing again soon so be sure to check out the calendar section of our website.
The rain got us again last night. We get rained out at almost every outdoor venue we play. Maybe we should rent ourselves out to play as rainmakers for drought stricken areas. Many thanks to the folks at Wofford College for having us play their alumni party. We had a great time and the food was awsome.

Studio Time Again - June 11, 2007
Well we finally made it to the studio over the weekend. We're going back the weekend of the 22nd to finish up the first 5 songs. We'd like to thank Tim Lawter and Rusty Milner of Studio 151 (Mill Street Recording) for a great session. They made us feel like part of the family. We would also like to thank the very talented Mike Blackwood for the awesome keyboard tracks he laid down. Stay Tuned for more updates.
SALUTE TO FALLEN HEROES!! - May 28, 2007
"I'm out here on the frontlines so ya'll can sleep in peace tonight". Words we take for granted but ones that ring so true. This Memorial Day Weekend has not been the holiday vacation we've been accustomed to in the past. We received word Friday that our sons/familes dear friend Corporal David Paul Lindsey of the United States Marine Corp had been killed doing what he always dreamed of....fighting for our freedom!!. Those words he wrote to his family from Iraq will never again be taken for granted by our family!! So, please take a moment from your activities today to remember our Soldiers and Fallen Heroes as well as their families and loved ones.
GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN!! RIP DAVID LINDSEY!!
Nick, keep your faith strong.....I LOVE YOU SON!!
