SILVER TRAVIS: News

SILVER TRAVIS featured in FREE Compilation Download Available From GRITZ - January 19, 2010

Hi Y'all,
It's quite a special day in the Swampland. Today we begin our monthly
series of digital music compilations. and every month we will be
offering you the *GRITZ* reader a *FREE *download of new music from many
of the artists you read about here in GRITZ.

The first /"Gritz Stone Ground & Southern"/ compilation features a
mixture of legendary Southern rockers along with the very best of the
new breed of artists including SILVER TRAVIS. Tommy Talton, best known for his work as
co-founder of the Capricorn Records band Cowboy during the 1970's,
played alongside Duane Allman and backed Gregg Allman on his famous
"Laid Back" Tour in '74. Tommy's current band is amazing.

Tommy Crain was the guitarist for The Charlie Daniels Band for over 15
years, co-writing hits like "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." Crain now
proudly features Jack Hall (Wet Willie) in his band.

Georgia's Doc Holliday has been rocking the world since 1980, and they
show no signs of slowing up.

The truly legendary Bonnie Bramlett (Delaney & Bonnie) joins Gritz-man and our buddy
Michael Buffalo Smith on a country duet, featuring her unmistakable
vocal power. And then there is up and coming country singer Amanda
Martin, the excellent South Carolina band SILVER TRAVIS, country rocking
Preacher Stone, Florida country rockers Rebel Syndicate, Louisiana swamp
rocker Tom Coerver, North Carolina's husband and wife rock band Garrett
and a great tune from Michael Allman, son of the legendary Gregg Allman.
Gritz is happy to present this free sampling of the artists we write
about. a It's our gift to you. Go to our Stone Ground Home Page to read
more about the bands, visit their websites and order their albums.

WHAT A WEEK!! - September 28, 2008

STB started the week in the beautiful mountains of N.C. at the 2008 Whippoorwill Music Festival. There was music and fun for everyone. From STB to the awesome vocals of Renee Williams and Steve Martinez, the country styles of Blake Wise and of course one of our favorites Juleigh Ed and Dixie Dawn. Country Legend Mel McDaniel finished up the star studded evening with an awesome set of his hits.

From NC it was on to Studio 151 (or whatever they call themselves) on Monday to put the finishing touches on our new CD with some Flute & Sax from Jerry Eubanks of The Marshall Tucker Band. We sure do appreciate Tim Lawter and his countless hours trying to get this project finalized. Rusty Milner is mastering the songs as we speak and then to the presses.......AMEN!! Keep an eye out for the finished product in the near future. MANY THANKS TO EVERYONE INVOLVED!!!

P.S. Check the updated gallery for pics of our fun filled summer including Steve "Guitar" Harvey sitting in with us at Bear Creek Marina.

Special thanks to Wofford College, here in beautiful downtown Spartanburg, for inviting us back to play their alumni BBQ. We always enjoy ourselves at this fun event.

We're working hard to finish up the new CD at Studio 151 (or whatever they call it now). Should be released early this Fall. More details to follow ...

Independence Day Weekend - July 6, 2008

We would like to send a special thank you to every military person and their families for the sacrifices they have made to gain and keep the independence for this great nation that we live in. Hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend.
The band celebrated the 4th at the Rumbling Bald Resort in beautiful Lake Lure, North Carolina. The evening began with us playing a few sets and ended with our own Rick Cash singing the Star Spangled Banner to a crowd of about 5,000 people. After that everyone was treated to one of the most spectacular firework displays to be seen. We all had a blast and many thanks to the folks at Rumbling Bald for inviting us.

We finished up the weekend at the Bear Creek Marina in Nebo, North Carolina. Many thanks to everyone who came out.

Next it's back to the studio to finish the last 4 songs for the new CD. We'll keep you posted on our progress.
